By JOHN A. MANNICK, HARRY L. LOCHTE, JR., E. DONNALL THOMAS AND JOSEPH W. FEBREBEE R ECENT STUDIES have indicated the usefulness of stored marrow in the repopulation of marrow spaces after lethal irradiation.’4 The viability of marrow stored for this purpose is definitively demonstrated by survival of the irradiated recipient. A satisfactory in vitro test of viability, however, is essential for studies in man since opportunities for in vivo assay in patients are necessarily limited. In this laboratory desoxyribonucleic acid ( DNA ) synthesis in vitro has been used as an index of the ability of marrow cells to proliferate, since an increase in DNA is a prerequisite for cell division. In the studies on stored samples of dog marrow reported here, the relationship between DNA synthesis in vitro and cell viability in vivo was explored. The in vivo test used has been the ability of stored autologous marrow to induce survival in lethally irradiated dogs.

Background In recent years, many researchers haveattempted to cure diabetes by using stem cells technology. Stem cells from different sources have capabilityto differentiateinto insulin producing cells (IPCs) by different methods. The obstaclesof these methods aretheirexpensive materials and complexity ofmethodswhichare practicallydisadvantagesfor producing enough transplantableIPCs that can ...
متن کاملSurvival rates associated with in vitro low-temperature storage of kutum (Rutilus kutum) eggs
To study the effects of post-stripping oocyte ageing at low temperatures on the viability of kutum (Rutilus kutum) oocytes, unfertilised eggs of five females were stored in ovarian fluid at temperatures of 4 and 7 degree centigrade for 24 hours post stripping (HPS). The stored ova of five female kutum were separately fertilised at 0 (i.e., control eggs fertilised prior to storage), 4, 8, 12, 16...

متن کاملBIO treatment enhances rat marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cell in vitro proliferation and viability
Introduction: Previous investigations have indicated that the presence of BIO (6-Bromoindirubin-3-Oxime) in medium of some cell culture enhances the cell proliferation and viability. The aim of the present study was to investigate the BIO effects on in vitro expansion of rat marrow-derived mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) culture. Methods: In the present experimental study, bone marrow cells from ...
